Turkish Airlines: A Sky-High Culinary Journey

Following

When it comes to air travel, Turkish Airlines has raised the bar, turning every flight into more than just a trip — it’s a culinary experience. Known for its elevated cuisine and authentic Turkish hospitality, the airline offers dining that transforms business class into something memorable, all while soaring at 35,000 feet. Turkish Airlines isn’t just about reaching your destination — it’s about enjoying the journey.

In 2023, Turkish Airlines introduced refreshed inflight menus for domestic and international flights in business and economy classes. Created in collaboration with Turkish DO & CO, these menus focus on healthy eating trends, blending traditional Turkish flavors with global influences. With 80% of the ingredients sourced from local producers, the airline’s dedication to fresh, high-quality ingredients enhances the overall dining experience.

Turkish Airlines’ inflight menu features a rotating selection of dishes carefully crafted to reflect the season's best ingredients. Highlights include canapés from a trolley like smoked salmon with horseradish, octopus and prawn salad and Turkish pastrami and cheese pastry, as well as heartier choices like mixed kebabs, teriyaki salmon and homemade tagliolini with burrata. Enjoy traditional Turkish sweets from the moving cart, including apricot ice cream or a bread and butter pudding with marinated berries and vanilla sauce for dessert. The menu changes to reflect seasonal ingredients, ensuring a fresh and delightful dining experience on every flight.

Turkish Airlines paid tribute to its rich cultural heritage this fall by introducing "The Oldest Bread" to its inflight menu. Made with Einkorn and Emmer wheat — two of the oldest grains in Anatolia — this unique offering is available exclusively to intercontinental business class passengers. The bread is served warm in a special bag with butter and olive oil alongside it. The project is a nod to the history of Anatolian agriculture, which began around 12,000 years ago in the Taş Tepeler region, a key site in the Neolithic Revolution. There, human societies first transitioned from a nomadic lifestyle to settled farming communities, with the domestication of wheat marking a pivotal shift in nutrition and social structures.

With its Flying Chefs program, the airline takes in-flight dining to new heights, allowing passengers to indulge in expertly prepared gourmet meals while soaring above the clouds. On long-haul flights, these chefs bring restaurant-quality cuisine to the cabin, elevating the flying experience and earning the airline accolades like "World's Best In-flight Catering Service."

Another standout initiative from Turkish Airlines is the "Fly Good Feel Good" project, designed to make air travel more enjoyable and less stressful. The campaign introduces a range of wellness beverages, including digestion-friendly tea, edema tea and refreshing and relaxing tea — each made without additives. These offerings help travelers arrive at their destinations feeling refreshed, rejuvenated and ready to take on their next adventure.

Turkish Airlines is revolutionizing air travel, emphasizing high-quality food and top-notch service. From innovative seasonal menus to the unique Flying Chefs program and the wellness-focused "Fly Good Feel Good" initiative, the airline elevates every aspect of the journey. Whether you're a seasoned traveler or a first-time flyer, this airline goes above and beyond.
